Focus areas

Governance

Scott believes strong governance is more than a regulatory requirement – it underpins sustainable business performance.

Drawing on legal expertise and senior business experience, he helps organisations strengthen governance as a practical discipline that supports decision-making, builds stakeholder confidence and moves beyond box-ticking compliance.

His work focuses on identifying governance weaknesses, understanding risk exposure and strengthening frameworks that protect stakeholder interests while supporting effective leadership.

Sustainability and Climate Change

Scott believes effective climate action requires embedding sustainability into core business operations rather than treating it as a reporting obligation or annual exercise.

He encourages organisations to recognise that climate disclosure and carbon management – from Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions tracking to CSRD, TCFD and IFRS requirements – can support operational strength and competitive differentiation when approached with accuracy and consistency.

Through Speeki, Scott supports boards in engaging with sustainability as a strategic business discipline, ensuring they have the expertise needed to address environmental risk and long-term value implications.

Compliance, Integrity and Ethics

Scott brings deep expertise in embedding compliance into business culture rather than treating it as a standalone regulatory exercise.

He helps organisations move beyond checkbox compliance by developing robust frameworks across anti-corruption, sanctions, ethics and integrity, workplace issues and human rights, supporting ethical decision-making and reducing operational risk.

At board level, he supports the structures needed to embed integrity across the organisation and position compliance as a core element of business success.

Ai Governance

Scott believes that AI governance should accelerate innovation rather than constrain it, creating competitive advantage through trustworthy, transparent and ethically designed AI systems.

As a certified AI governance lead auditor under ISO 42001, Scott combines technical understanding of AI systems with expertise in the regulatory frameworks required to govern them responsibly.

Through his work building AI-powered solutions for Speeki, he has seen first-hand the need to balance innovation with accountability, performance with ethics and automation with human oversight, particularly in addressing algorithmic bias, data privacy risks and operational vulnerabilities.

Audit and Oversight

Scott is a certified auditor across multiple ISO management systems, including anti-bribery (ISO 37001), AI governance (ISO 42001), compliance, health and safety and environmental standards.

Having audited hundreds of management systems and sustainability reports globally, Scott brings first-hand insight into how risks emerge and interact across complex organisational environments.

He supports audit committees in applying this insight to develop integrated oversight approaches that strengthen governance and risk management.

Redefining Risk

Scott brings a multidisciplinary perspective to modern risk management, which now extends beyond financial and operational risks to include ESG, sustainability, geopolitical, climate and technological uncertainties.

Drawing on experience auditing ISO management systems across different areas, he helps boards understand how these risks intersect and how failures in one area can create wider operational, reputational and regulatory consequences.

His focus is on supporting organisations to anticipate emerging risks while identifying opportunities that arise from more integrated and forward-looking risk management.

The journey

Scott graduated law school and began his career at Australia’s leading firm, Allen Allen & Hemsley, where he built a strong foundation in litigation and advanced to Senior Associate.

He then moved in-house and spent almost 10 years working for multinational technology companies including Sun Microsystems and Hitachi Data Systems, where he focused on legal, governance and compliance.

In 2000, after two years at Sun Microsystems, Scott was promoted to director level and appointed to lead the company’s legal team in China, based in Hong Kong. His role focused on management, leadership and building strong, ethical teams.

He later took on a global role managing the asset finance and leasing legal team, which involved relocating to the UK and working across the UK and US.

In 2006, Scott founded The Red Flag Group (RFG), a compliance and integrity firm headquartered in Hong Kong, with a global footprint of 15 offices across the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Under his leadership, RFG grew into a global leader, supporting large organisations with legal and compliance obligations related to bribery, corruption and due diligence.

In 2020, Scott sold the business to the London Stock Exchange Group.

In 2020, Scott founded Speeki, an independent assurance company that audits and assures non-financial performance across sustainability, compliance and governance, providing validation stakeholders can trust.

Scott has since grown Speeki to support hundreds of multinational organisations across Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. Its clients include Sinclair Broadcast Group, Edelman Group, citizenM and Appen.
